#Set thunderbird for pop email for gmail manual#
I realize that this isn't exactly what IMAP is set up to do I'd had Thunderbird set up for POP for a long time, but when I was trying to get it to send messages, there were server problems that I solved by switching to IMAP. From the Start menu, select Mozilla Thunderbird From the home page, select Email under Set up an account Enter your Name, as you’d like to be displayed to others Enter your TELUS email address and password Select Manual config Type the following information: Incoming: Select IMAP Incoming server hostname: Port: 993 SSL. NOTE: If you do not want to send emails for your domain through Gmail, click the No radio button. To continue to set up SMTP in Gmail, select Yes and click Next Step. You will see a message stating Your mail account has been added. Search: Thunderbird Not Downloading Email Automatically.

When I fire up Thunderbird, it gets my "new" messages - those that have arrived since the last time I opened Thunderbird. My Thunderbird has all my gmail messages, that go back 10+ years.Apologizing in advance for a question that invites a "why would you want to do that?" response.īut I'd like my Thunderbird, working with my gmail, configured for IMAP, to function as it did when I had it configured for POP.
